FlyPad Trays

The FlyPad Tray (FPT) is one of the most highly innovative, simple, secure, light-weight and low-profile Class 1/Portable/Viewable Stowage EFB retention devices ever designed and produced.  It was designed by pilots FOR pilots, and is professionally manufactured in the USA with the highest grade materials.    We currently have FlyPad Tray (FPT) EFB retention devices for the B737, B747, and the B787 Dreamliner.  Within each fleet, we have at least two options.  One to accommodate caseless or bare tablets, and one to accommodate tablets that are in cases up to 20mm/0.787″ thick .

The FPTs for the B737 and B747s are designed to be used interchangeably on either the Captain or First Officer’s side, whereas the FPTs for the B787 are side-specific.

Q: “If we change/upgrade tablet types at our company, do we need to purchase a new FlyPad Tray?”

A: NO. The ‘grip’ within the FlyPad Tray (FPT) is achieved by using a high-quality, special padding that we stock in five different thickness.  By merely replacing/adding existing padding with the thickness appropriate for your newer tablet, you avoid having to purchase a new FPT.  We stock upgrade kits appropriate for each tablet type, and sell them for a very nominal cost.

Q: “What’s so special about your padding?

A: It is certified by the manufacturer to meet US Federal Motor Safety Standard 302a, and is rated as “Self-Extinguishing/No Burn Rate”.
Additionally, it is UV resistant, die-cut, and though tighly adhered to the FPT, can be removed and replaced cleanly with thicker or thinner pieces as necessary to achieve the appropriate fit.  See the options/models note below

Three options, nine models for the B737
:

Option 1) Tablet-specific, with padding for caseless or bare tablets (e.g.: those with a tablet name in them such as “FPT737 Pro/Air 2”, or “FPT737KLM iPad/Air”, or others.  We also have a compact (2 cm shorter) model listed with a “KLM” suffix, such as: “FPT 737KLM” Pro/Air 2).

Note: the iPad Pro 12″ is too long for the B737 side windowsill in either portrait or landscape orientation, and the MS Surface requires the any of the FPTs for cases (e.g.: those with a “CS” in the model name).

Option 2)  For tablets in cases up to 20mm thick (e.g.: OtterBox, Targus, Decoded,…).  Models include: “FPT737CS”, “FPT737KLMCS” (a landscape-only compact model), and “FPT737MSCS”, which is for Microsoft Surface RT, 2, 3, or Pros with the battery pack/keyboard protective case.

Option 3) For those who have or want to use a Pivot Case ™, and take advantage of having an articulated mount attached to our FlyPad Tray design.  This model is the “FPT737-PIVOT”, “FPT747-PIVOT”, or “FPT787-PIVOT”.   The mount is included, but the PIVOT Case is purchased separately from FlyBoys.com .

Q: “Does it matter if I fly in B737 Classics, NGs, BBJs, or P-8/C-40s?”

A: NO.  The new cutout design accommodates all four known spring clip designs and window sill options.  See photos below.

Four options, seven models for the B747:

Option 1) Tablet-specific, with padding for caseless or bare tablets (e.g.: those with a tablet name in them such as “FPT747 Pro/Air 2”, FPT747 iPad/Air or other tablets.)

Option 2)  For tablets in cases up to 20mm thick (e.g.: OtterBox, Targus, Decoded,…).  Models include: “FPT747CS” for tablet use in portrait or landscape orientation, or the shorter, “Compact” model “FPT747CECS” which offers the more clearance for the pilot, but limits you to a landscape-only orientation.  This is our most popular B747 model.

Option 3)  “FLYPAD747-PIVOT”.  For those who have or want to use a Pivot Case ™, and take advantage of having an articulated mount attached to our FlyPad Tray design.   The mount is included, but the Pivot Case is purchased separately from FlyBoys.com .

Q: “What series of 74s does this fit?”

A:  Any series that has the window sill with the spring clip.  See photo below.

Three options, several models for the B787:  These are side-specific (e.g.: CA for Captain’s side, and FO for First Officer’s side).

Option 1) For case-less tablets.  The “FPT787(CA or FO)3SEA” will fit all but the 12″ iPads and MS Surface tablets.  For those longer tablets, you would desire the wider “FPT787(CA or FO)3SE.

Option 2)  For tablets in cases up to 20mm thick (e.g.: OtterBox, Targus, Decoded,…).  Models include: “FPT787(CA or FO)CS3SEA” or the “FPT787(CA or FO)CS3SE” (no “A” at the end) for the 12″ iPads and MS Surface tablets.

Option 3) “FLYPAD787CA or FO-PIVOT”.  For those who have or want to use a Pivot Case ™, and take advantage of having an articulated mount attached to our FlyPad Tray design.   The mount is included, but the Pivot Case is purchased separately from FlyBoys.com .

See photos below.

Notes:

1) The iPad Pro has the same thickness as the iPad Air 2, will fit into any FlyPad Tray (FPT) previously branded as the “Air 2”, and the “iPad” has the same thickness as the iPad Air 1, so it will fit in any (FPT) branded for the iPad Air 1.

2) The iPad Pro 12″ is too long to fit in the FPT737 or FPT747s in either portrait or landscape orientation.

2)  The “Rotating Option” seen in the video, which was sold separately by Joby.com, is regretfully no longer manufactured.  It does not come included with the FlyPad Tray.  The purpose of that segment of the video is to demonstrate how those who have a case with a rotating feature, can take advantage of that feature in the FlyPad Tray.

FPT 787 clears the Class 3 EFB and the tiller.

The FPT787 models are side-specific, with a “CA” for Captain, or “FO” for First Officer in the part number.  Shown below is the FPT787CACS3SEA.

For pilots/carriers who want to use a case-less tablet, or one with a protective case up to 0.59″/15 mm thick, you will want to use our “CS” models with the inside aperture of the three retaining brackets that accommodates ‘CaseS’.  The “3” refers to the number of retaining brackets, “S” for stiffeners (standard), “E” for extended width for longer tablets, and our “A” width for all but iPad 12.9″ widths.

If your tablet/case is thicker than above, or wider than 10.44″/26.5mm, let us know. We have thinner padding, or a wider model for that as well.

FPT 787 clears the Class 3 EFB, EROS mask, and the tiller.  This is the FPT 787 CA AAL.  Note this model has two brackets (forward and bottom).

The FPT787 designs allow ergonomic viewing of both EFBs simultaneously, as well as offer easy access to power cords.  Here you also see full access to the NWS Tiller and EROS Oxygen Mask.   Shown below is the FPT787CACS3SEA.

Ergonomic orientation for either Vertical (portrait) or horizontal (landscape), yet still complimenting usage of both EFBs at one time. Charging port fully accessible. Unrestricted access to Oxygen Mask, Nose Wheel Steering Tiller, and air vents.  Shown below is the FPT787CACS3SEA.
